How is commercialism skateboarding's undoing? If it wasn't for commercialism of skateboarding what kind of equipment would we be using? If skateboarders couldn't make money from skateboarding do you think the sport would have progressed so far?

I agree that his statements contradict each-other. I disagree with the first. I think it's good for skateboarding that people make money from it.

I understand that you were only pointing out the hypocrisy of his 2 statements. I would have to agree.

In my humble opinion, a large part of why skateboarding has become what it is can be attributed to commercialism. Profit is good.

Q: How many innovative sports/art forms have come from the USSR, China or Cuba.

A: None

Maybe some were invented, but their lack of a free market kept them from us.

Go Capitalism! It really does make everything better. Commies will just steal it and cover it in lead paint.

In some countries, they would just rip the product apart, copy all the parts and then rebuild their own. Then of course resell the product cheaper than the original.
Oooh... I'm sorry did that offend you?

And them American corps would out source to those countries and we could all pay less at Wlamart for them.  Free market for everyone.  Welfare for no one, except  big business so they can still fund our campaigns.  "America F yeah."  The french skate company "Cliche",   will now be known as "Freedom fries boards".
And once again "America, F yeah!"
